Eleanor Angel  – Face to Face
CD review by John Williams

Eleanor Angel is a Brisbane singer/songwriter with the voice of an angel (sorry about that but it is true!)
Eleanor has a lovely voice and explores elements of jazz, folk and classics in her work.
She is very easy to listen to and her voice is backed by cello (Kathy Baker), violin (Eleanor), double bass (Lee Peters) and percussion (David Kemp).
Cameron Elliot also provides harmony vocals on two tracks.
Eleanor provides the guitar backing and it is a highlight of the CD.
Eleanor creates lovely moods with her guitar which enhance her beautiful voice.
The sound created is nothing if not peaceful.
It is most enjoyable when relaxing on a late night, drink in hand, fire crackling.
I thought it was that sort of sound and I enjoyed it.
On the CD Eleanor pays tribute to Joni Mitchell singing ‘Little Green’.
It is a lovely version.
I also enjoyed Eleanor’s version of the classic ‘Taste of Honey’.
All other tracks on the CD are written by Eleanor.
In her lyrics she explores relationships, lost loves and the meaning of life.
A memorable track is ‘Face to Face’ where Eleanor pays tribute to the memory of a friend.
It is moving and a quite beautiful rendition.
Many other tracks stood out.
I enjoyed them all.
The CD is very well produced and the backing musicians have been well chosen to complement Eleanor’s beautiful voice.
I have enjoyed listening to this album.
If you like a sweet voice, beautiful strings and quiet percussion then I think you will too.
I can recommend this CD.
