Karen Lynne – Blue Mountain Rain

$25.00

This album is completely and unashamedly Bluegrass. It is a collaborative effort with Banjo player Martin Louis, and heavily features Martin’s Bluegrass Band – also Sydney’s most well known Bluegrass band “Acoustic Shock”. Anyone who loves traditional Bluegrass played the traditional way with gorgeous 3 part harmony will love this album.

“What do you get when you quite literally marry talented country singer Karen Lynn with Martin Louis, banjo player from Acoustic Shock, one of the best Bluegrass bands in Australia? You get the album “Blue Mountain Rain” of course! Karen truly has a talent as a vocalist – it’s in the genes – Karen is from one of the most musical families of the NSW south coast. Martin provides the vocals too together with his Scruggsy banjo and 5-string dobro. Other members of Acoustic Shock (Jimmy Rush guitar, Nigel Lever mandolin and Quentin Fraser bass and dobro) and friends (some of the best Australian Bluegrass musicians Ian Simpson, Andrew Claremont, Kim Warner and Mick Albeck) provide the Bluegrass back up instrumentation and additional harmony and lead vocals. Generous 18 track selection of country flavoured songs including a Karen Lynn and Heather Field original “This Ring”, Kasey Chamber’s “This Flower” (with Elisabeth Frencham), Louvin Brothers (sort of) numbers and a twin banjo instrumental “Big Ben”. This album was voted best independent release in the 2003 Victorian Country Music Awards. If you like good clear country singing with Australia’s best acoustic Bluegrass backup, you’ll like this album.” Review by Lindsay Marr.
