Mick McHugh is an independent contemporary Irish singer-songwriter. A captivating live performer who draws in audiences with songs and stories. The title track from his debut EP “A Long Way From Home” was shortlisted in the Oz Songwriters Association Contest in 2008. The CD features top notch musicians who, incidentally, also recorded on Pete Murray’s latest CD. His follow up CD “Dad” was released in conjunction with his performances at The Fatherhood Festival in 2008, where he supported Australian Idol winner Damien Leith, and Australian icons Jeff Lang and Tex Perkins. Mick has created a monthly Folk Night in Federal (Nth NSW), played Brisbane’s Green Fest and regularly participates in community projects. Mick delivers his songs with a passion, reminiscent of the Irish Balladeers of old, but with a distinct contemporary flavour of a young man who wears his heart on his sleeve.
