Maggie Myurphy was born and brought up in the grape growing area round Mildura, the youngest of seven children.
Her love of traditional songs and poetry grew out of informal homely sessions, where family members and friends would gather to perform and entertain each other with songs and recitation.
She is well known in folk circles around Australia, and in Yorkshire England, where she lived for 10 years in the 1980’s. Her renditions of Australian bush verse in the folk clubs there is still talked about today!
Returning to Melbourne in 1996, Maggie recorded her first CD, “The Tales We Never Hear”, an eclectic mix of traditional and modern songs.
